about us

Kids Only Triathlon is a non profit 501 (c)(3) Christian based organization. Our mission is to introduce and involve youth in the sport of triathlon to develop self confidence, self esteem and physical well being.

John Webb

John is Vice President of Strategic Business Development for Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Tyler, Texas. John has been active in youth sports and has coached numerous baseball and football teams since 1997.

John, Liz and Drew
John became involved in the sport of triathlon in 1997 by accident. He was hospitalized with a herniated disk in his neck and lost over 60% of the strength in his right arm. Physicians recommended surgery and gave him little hope of ever regaining the strength due to extensive nerve damage. John elected to undertake an intensive strength and conditioning exercise program instead. One day while watching television, John happened to see the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii. This event consists of a 2.4 mile ocean swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. Although John had never heard of a triathlon or Ironman, he became so inspired by the determination of the participants that he set a goal to one day compete in an Ironman triathlon. To make the effort even more worthwhile, he decided to compete as a fund-raiser for Kid Reach (formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tyler).

To date, John is a three-time Iron Man Triathlon competitor and has competed in over 50 triathlon events including Ironman Florida and the world famous Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii. Through his triathlon events he has raised over to $50,000 for youth related charities.

In 2001, John was approached by several kids about helping them get started in the sport of triathlon. The idea to organize a kids event developed into the Kids Only Triathlon.

Liz Webb

Liz is a stay at home mom. She is married to John Webb and they have one son, Drew. Liz has been involved in various youth related organizations such as Kiwanis and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), an organization that represents abused and neglected children in the court system.

Liz has been active in the sport of triathlon since 1999. She has competed in numerous events and became a certified USAT (USA Triathlon) official in 2001. Liz has officiated many triathlons throughout the United States including the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii.
